Hydrographic Specifications

Hydrographic surveying, delivering high quality and precision.

Farren Land Surveys extends its vast experience and expertise in hydrographic surveying to deliver projects of superior quality and precision. Our survey specifications adhere to high standards of accuracy, featuring:

  • Reference Grids: Our horizontal reference grid aligns with the MGA 94 Zone 55 standard, while our vertical reference is either Chart datum or AHD, depending on your project's specific needs.

  • Survey Vessel: The survey is conducted from a 4.55m Polycraft centre console vessel, specially fitted for hydrographic surveys. Powered by a 40hp four-stroke Yamaha outboard, this MSV registered class2D vessel is operated by a certified coxswain.

  • Hydrographic Survey Equipment: We use the Ceeman data measurement and recording system for comprehensive hydrographic survey measurements. This system is tailored to surpass the IHO S-44 Order 1 specification, making it ideal for even shallow water surveys down to 0.6m below the surface.

  • Performance Checks: To ensure equipment performance, we conduct all standard checks as specified by IHO S44, recording all data during field operations.

  • Data Reduction and Quality Assurance: Our Ceedata system facilitates tide data reduction and offers quality assurance through software routines. These routines allow for the verification of both horizontal and vertical recorded measurements.

  • Accuracy: Our DGPS achieves a horizontal accuracy of +/-1m. The single-beam, dual-frequency transducer ensures a vertical accuracy of +/- 0.1m on both frequencies. Our KGPS maintains a horizontal accuracy of +/- 25mm and can also provide the real-time height of the vessel during surveying.
